This blog will follow the details of building a butt and pass style log home. This is the style taught by the Log Home Builders Association of North America. The LHBA teaches people how to build a true log home and save many thousands of dollars doing it.

The first dormer is built. The fascia will be cut out in front of the dormer and the window will be cut into the first two logs. We're waiting for the non-stop rain to end so we can complete them.
I am in Glenwood, Iowa and took the LHBA course in 1999. Where did you get the logs? They look like telephone poles and I'm curious if you peeled them or had them delivered already peeled.

I'm hoping to start this fall also.
Nice Job.
Thanks.
