This blog will follow the details of building a butt and pass style log home. This is the style taught by the Log Home Builders Association of North America. The LHBA teaches people how to build a true log home and save many thousands of dollars doing it.

Cedar color.
The deep crawl came in handy for our mechanical stuff.
Wonderful progress on the house. I just came across your blog and was glad to see how close you are. My husband, Jeff, and I live in Conway, AR and visit Springfield/Branson often. Jeff took the class in 2005 and we are just now purchasing land near Petit Jean Mountain State Park. We'd love to come see the house first hand and help out if needed. We have five children ages 2 1/2 to 10 that would enjoy getting some practice. We are razorback_jeff on the forum or you can email me at wildolivetree@gmail.com Sarah Croswell
Wow, how encouraging it was to come across your blog. I took the class in January of this year and have been looking forward to building our log home. We just moved to Seymour, Missouri (30 miles east of Springfield). Of course we'd love to come by and see your home, but just let us know if you have time for that. In the meantime, we are just beginning to hunt down our logs. Where did you get those logs? Any leads would be greatly appreciated. We're also going to be collecting tools if you'd like to sell or rent any. We're available via email at scottb@mountainchurch.org or on the log home forum as belayerbryant. Thanks! Scott Bryant
Your house is coming along wonderfully! If you don't mind sharing, we're wondering the details on your board n' batten for the gable ends. We're needing to finish ours soon, & likely going the same way. (Shark from LHBA) Jeff & Jessica
